We would like to welcome Dr Marinee Lees to the practice. Dr Polhemus is happy to have such a qualified and experienced individual as part our team.

Dr. Lees joined our practice in 2022. She graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Bioengineering and obtained her Master's degree from New York University's College of Dentistry in Biomaterials Science. She then worked as a product development engineer for a dental implant company in Birmingham, AL. She designed dental implant parts, surgical kits and more for their existing product line and her love for dentistry grew. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UT Health San Antonio and completed a year of Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at East Carolina University, where she received training in complex restorative dentistry, implantology, endodontics, and oral surgery.

Dr. Lees is very involved in dentistry, and balances her time working in private practice while also teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. She has volunteered her time serving on the boards of Raleigh-Wake County's Dental Society, the North Carolina Dental Society and at Wake Smiles, a dental clinic in Raleigh that provides free dental care to those in need. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, an accolade about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada obtain after completing a minimum of 500 credit hours of continuing education and passing an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams.

In her free time, she finds herself spending time outdoors with her husband and two sons. They love going on adventures from the mountains to the beach and enjoy exploring everything North Carolina has to offer.

Favorite App on Her Phone: the NYT Games App... she's a big fan of Wordle, Strands and Connections.

Dr. Lees loves traveling and is on a quest to see all 50 states before turning 50. She has a map in the office showing which states she has left.

Guilty Pleasure: Rainbow cookies (also known as Seven Layer Cookies) are her favorite sweet treat.
